About Connie

Connie Wilson has been a registered nurse since 1985, beginning her career with six years of bedside nursing in intensive care, neurosurgical and cardiac critical care units. In 1991, she transitioned to cardiac rehabilitation, and by 1994 she had successfully developed a pulmonary rehabilitation program at her then-employer, providing crucial support to patients managing chronic heart and lung conditions.

Throughout her career, Wilson has specialized in patient education and motivation, guiding individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles and effectively address their risk factors. She has continued her own education to enhance the skills she brings to her patients, earning a bachelor’s degree in organizational management in 2000, a doctorate in natural health in 2011, a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2015, a Master of Science in Nursing Education in 2016 and a master’s in pastoral counseling and life coaching in 2020. She also holds several certifications, including ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist, AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional and Certified Master Christian Life Coach, underscoring her commitment to providing evidence-based, patient-focused care.

Since 2016, Wilson has served as a full-time cardiopulmonary rehabilitation nurse at Daviess Community Hospital, where she supervises monitored exercise programs, conducts patient assessments and offers tailored education. Previously, she worked at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital from 1991 to 2015, where she was charge nurse in the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and cardiology department. She established both cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services, leading efforts to secure certification through the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. In addition to training new staff, she often mentored visiting students from local physical therapy programs and high schools.

Wilson is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Indiana Society of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation—where she served as president—the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Wilson lives in Shoals with her husband, Kevin. She has two grown children and three grandchildren, and hosts “Cooking With Connie,” a YouTube channel where she shares gluten-free and sugar-free recipes. Her lifelong passion for helping others thrive is evident not only in her work as a nurse and educator, but in her dedication to promoting healthier habits in every facet of daily life.
