About Ethan

Ethan T. Oates, MD, FACC, is a board-certified interventional cardiologist providing advanced heart care at the DCH Specialty Clinic in Washington, Indiana. He specializes in cardiac catheterization, minimally invasive procedures to restore blood flow, and complex coronary interventions, including angioplasty and stent placement.

Dr. Oates has advanced training and a special interest in treating Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO), a severe condition in which coronary arteries are completely blocked, restricting oxygen supply to the heart. His expertise helps prevent heart attacks and strokes by addressing blocked arteries with the most current interventional cardiology techniques.

A graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Oates completed his residency at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, and his fellowship in interventional cardiology at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

He is an active member of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention (SCAI). Known for his patient-centered approach, Dr. Oates begins each consultation by listening to patient concerns and developing personalized treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary cardiology team.
