Gladys Lopez, MD,MPH

About Gladys

Gladys Helena Lopez, MD, MPH, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with extensive clinical and academic experience in both the United States and Colombia. She provides expert emergency care at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana, combining advanced clinical skills with a deep understanding of public health.

Dr. Lopez earned her Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, followed by an internship in internal medicine and three years of emergency medicine residency training at New York Medical College. She completed a fellowship in International Emergency Medicine and a Master’s in International Health Promotion at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Her career spans leadership and quality improvement roles in high-volume Level II trauma centers, including serving as assistant and quality director for emergency services. Dr. Lopez has also been an international lecturer, conference organizer, and published co-author on topics in trauma care and neurocritical care. She is recognized for her work as an International Emergency Medicine Ambassador for Colombia through the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Lopez is dedicated to patient-centered care, cultural competency, and public health advocacy. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, cycling, salsa dancing, and writing poetry.
