About Jimmy

Jimmy Reece Smith, MSN, RN, PMHNP-BC, is an experienced provider with Daviess Community Hospital Behavioral Health, known for his compassionate approach and dedication to patient wellness. Jimmy is board-certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with a clinical practice grounded in patient-centered care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and individualized treatment planning.

Jimmy earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Middle Tennessee State University and his Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College, specializing as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He is currently pursuing additional certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Jimmy’s diverse clinical background includes extensive experience in emergency medicine, psychiatric nursing, critical care, and patient care management. He has served in leadership roles at notable institutions such as University of Kentucky Medical Center, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Saint Thomas West Hospital, and Metro General Hospital. Jimmy has also provided critical care as a flight nurse and has managed care units specializing in cardiac and oncology treatment.

Known for fostering empathetic patient environments and improving care continuity, Jimmy is committed to enhancing mental health outcomes through effective patient education, careful medication management, and therapeutic interventions.

Jimmy is licensed in Indiana and Kentucky, and holds certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and is an active member of professional organizations including the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
