About Otto
Otto C. Susec, Jr., MD, FACEP, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician bringing decades of expertise to Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana. A first-generation American born to Slovenian parents in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Susec is known for delivering rapid, expert care in high-pressure situations and for his leadership in emergency medicine at the regional level.
Dr. Susec earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The Ohio State University and his Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in emergency medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Board-certified since 1998, he also maintains certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
In addition to his clinical work at DCH, Dr. Susec serves as Medical Director and Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at St. Vincent Evansville Medical Center and as Medical Director and Service-Line Chief at St. Vincent Warrick Hospital. His leadership has earned national recognition, including TEAMHealth’s National Medical Director of the Year Award and the Evansville Courier & Press Health Care Heroes Award.
Passionate about advancing emergency care, Dr. Susec has presented at professional conferences on improving emergency department performance, patient satisfaction, and stroke care. He also holds faculty appointments with Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Indiana University School of Medicine.
