Daviess Community Hospitalis pleased to announce the newest MRI software upgrade at their Washington facility. The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique that uses a magnetic field and computer-generated radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues in your body. Most MRI machines are large, tube-shaped magnets.
“The equipment itself still looks the same but the scanning capabilities have increased tremendously,” said Heather Decker, Director of Imaging Services.
This new software increases scan speed which in turn reduces the amount of time is spent inside the scanner. It also provides more detailed images for the radiologists to determine their diagnosis.
The new software also gives DCH the capability to perform MRI Breast exams. Until now, patients have traveled out of the area for these specific scans. The MRI results and reports are delivered to the patient’s provider within 24-48 hours.
As a result of this upgrade, the DCH Imaging Services department has expanded scanning hours. Exams may now be scheduled from 7:00a.m. – 7:00p.m, Monday – Friday.
