DAVIESS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL CELEBRATES DOCTORS’ DAY
(Washington, IN) – Daviess Community Hospital recognizes the importance of all physicians throughout the year, but especially on National Doctors Day. This day serves as a reminder of the crucial role all physicians play in protecting and improving the health of our nation. National Doctors' Day, which is celebrated on March 30th each year, provides us with an excellent opportunity to reach out and thank our area physicians for their many contributions to ensuring high caliber healthcare in this region.
“Physicians work tirelessly to provide high quality care and improve the health of all citizens,” said Tracy Conroy, CEO of Daviess Community Hospital. “Daviess Community Hospital has the distinct privilege of collaborating with a number of specialists, hospitalists, and primary care physicians. We are extremely grateful to the area physicians for the amazing care they provide and the lives they touch every day.”
Doctors at Daviess Community Hospital use their expertise to make crucial, life-saving decisions and to help patients and their families through difficult and emotional experiences. Our patients know – first-hand – just how important a physician’s expertise is when it really counts. At Daviess Community Hospital and clinics, our dedicated doctors do much more than provide healing care. They also provide hope, compassion and comfort. We want them to know how much they are valued, as they work tirelessly to care for us, our family and friends. Because of them, residents of Daviess County and the surrounding area are able to receive the very best healthcare services.
“Doctors' Day is a way of saying thanks to the physicians who work tirelessly every day to keep their patients and our community healthy,” notes Tracy Conroy, CEO of DCH. She adds, “We are privileged to have some of the most skilled physicians in the country right here in our own community. Doctors' Day is just one small way we can honor them for all their hard work and dedication to the health of our community. The next time you see your physician, say thank you or send them a thank you card and let them know how much you appreciate them. It will mean the world to them.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Daviess Community Hospital will mark this special occasion with a token of our appreciation for hospital and clinic physicians.
On National Doctors Day and especially during this time of pandemic, take the time to thank your physician and physicians across the state for all that they do to keep their patients and their communities healthy.
The History of National Doctors' Day
The first Doctors' Day observance was on March 30, 1933, as a local celebration in Winder, Ga., by Eudora Brown Almond (wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond) to mark the anniversary of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery. On March 30, 1958, a resolution commemorating Doctors' Day was adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1990, legislation establishing Doctors' Day was approved, and on Feb. 21, 1991, President George H. W. Bush signed the resolution designating March 30 as National Doctors' Day. The first National Doctors' Day was celebrated that year.
