DAVIESS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OFFERS RESPIRATORY CARE SCREENING SITE

(Washington, IN) –Daviess Community Hospital announced today that the temporary Respiratory Care Screening Site (RCSS) for patients suspected of having the coronavirus (COVID-19) will cease operations at 4pm on Friday, May 8^th. This military-grade tent/structure, which was stocked with medical supplies and staffed by DCH medical personnel, was designed as a temporary screening and assessment site. It was located just east of the hospital’s Emergency Department entrance in Washington at the corner of NE 15^th Street and Grand Avenue.

For patients who are experiencing symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath

Daviess Community Hospital advises to first call the COVID hotline at 812-254-2764 before seeking non-emergent medical attention. The medical professional answering the COVID hotline may direct the patient to the DCH Quick Care Clinic, located at 1805 S State Rd 57 in Washington. Patients who arrive at Quick Care are asked to remain in their vehicles and to call 812-254-7845 to speak with the clinic personnel. A clinic staff member will ask questions to determine appropriate screening, testing or treatment needed and instruct the patient on the next steps.

The DCH Quick Care Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. It is also open on Saturdays from 9am to 5pm and Sundays from 12pm to 4pm. These hours may change in response to volume and needs of the community. This is the only DCH clinic where individuals with respiratory symptoms will be assessed and potentially tested for COVID-19.

“We believe that moving this screening site to the DCH Quick Care Clinic will better meet the needs of our community,” Cara Veale, VP of Provider Services noted. “Per the CDC guidelines on which groups qualify for a COVID-19 test, patients should be aware that not everyone who visits this site with respiratory symptoms will be tested for COVID-19.”
