Daviess Community Hospital was awarded $579,944.00 from the State for work to improve Maternal and Infant Health

08/16/2023 Daviess Community Hospital announced today it has received a grant totaling $579,944.00 from the Indiana Department of Health to improve maternal and infant health as part of the state’s Health Issues and Challenges program, which was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2021 with funding from the American Rescue Plan Act. The additional funding was made possible through the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) through the CDC.

The grant will help to expand the current Mobile Integrated Health program to address maternal health in Daviess County. Under this program, an additional community paramedic, nurse navigator, and three community health workers will be added to our current community paramedic and transitional care navigator. With the implementation of this extension, DCH will focus on the following areas affecting maternal and infant health in Daviess County:

  • Mental health and Substance Use Disorder treatment.
  • Hypertension Disorders.
  • Preconception, Conception, and Post-Conception follow-up for patients until the child is 18 months old.
  • Education regarding Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
  • Safe Sleep.
  • Tobacco Cessation and;
  • Car Seat Safety
