DCH Foundation Eclipse 5K a success

Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) Foundation’s Eclipse 5K & Fun Run was held on Saturday, April 6 at the hospital campus in Washington. The event raised funds to support the hospital’s emergency room expansion project.
Winners of the event include:
- Female 10-25 year old: Arina Yakymenko of Washington with a time of 31:38
- Female 25+ years old: Melissa Pancake of Washington, 28:51
- Male 10-25: Blake Barber of Washington, 26:36
- Male 25+: Walter Henrichsen of Loogootee, 21:02
“We have been fortunate to have many local individuals and sponsors supporting our efforts through participation and donations, including for this 5K fun run,” said Angie Steiner, DCH Foundation Director.

DCH’s emergency department expansion project includes:
- Expanded services to support the emergency department, including laboratory and imaging renovations
- The addition of two dedicated rooms designed for treatment and containment of infectious disease
- The addition of three dedicated trauma rooms for severely ill and injured patients
- Creation of a specialized safe room designed for patients experiencing a behavioral health crisis
- New ambulance entrance distinct from the patient and visitor entrance to enhance privacy and flow
- Expanded visitor lobby
“The new emergency department will be 40% larger and state-of-the-art enabling the hospital to better accommodate and treat the thousands of patients who trust us with their care,” Steiner said.
Also raising funds for the DCH’s emergency department project is the 9th annual Kentucky Derby Fundraiser on Saturday, May 4 from 5-11 p.m. at the Ed Lee Chapel in Washington. For more information, visit bit.ly/dchfderby.
