DCH’s Larry Shots to Speak at 2024 Mobile Integrated Health Fall Summit in Las Vegas

Larry Shots, EMS-P, CP-C, NRP, a community paramedic with Daviess Community Hospital’s Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program, will be a featured speaker at the 2024 Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) Fall Summit, held September 9-10 in Las Vegas. The summit, hosted by the National Association of Mobile Integrated Health Professionals, is a premier event bringing together MIH and Community Paramedicine teams from across the United States to discuss industry standards, best practices, funding, legislation, training, and more.

Larry will present on Monday, September 9, from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. PT, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. His session, titled "Documentation of the MIH Clinician," will focus on the critical aspects of documenting CMS requirements for evaluation and management, social determinants of health, fall prevention, safety, and care plan development.

“It’s an honor to speak at the MIH Fall Summit and share insights on the importance of accurate and comprehensive documentation in our field,” Larry said. “Proper documentation is crucial not only for meeting regulatory requirements but also for improving patient outcomes and ensuring the success of MIH programs.”

Larry is an integral part of Daviess Community Hospital's MIH program, which aims to increase access to basic healthcare services within the community. The program’s community paramedic conducts vital assessments, administers treatments, performs preventive measures, and makes necessary referrals to medical and social services, all while helping to reduce unnecessary transports, hospital admissions, and non-emergent 911 calls.

Larry's extensive career in emergency medical services began in 1991 as an EMT with private ambulance services. He advanced to become a paramedic in 1996 after completing his training at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois. Larry joined the City of Vincennes Fire Department in 1998, where he served for 24 years, ultimately retiring as Captain of EMS and Special Operations. Throughout his career, Larry has held various leadership roles, including Co-Chairman of the Knox County LEPC and a liaison with the Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center. He also contributed to the Indiana FBI Joint Hazardous Assessment Team during Super Bowl XLVI in 2012.

Certified by the International Board of Specialty Certification as a community paramedic, Larry holds an associate degree in Business Management–Cyber Security from Eastern Gateway Community College. He lives in Indiana with his wife and is a proud father of three and grandfather of four.
