Brandon Johnson: A One-of-a-Kind Professional Serving Southwestern Indiana

Brandon Johnson, MOT, OTR, LAT, ATC, CHT, brings an unparalleled combination of skills to the CORE Center, part of Daviess Community Hospital. As one of the few individuals in the world who is a Certified Hand Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Athletic Trainer, Johnson provides comprehensive care to patients with upper extremity injuries and conditions.

“Brandon’s expertise is a rare asset not just for our community, but for the entire region,” said Dave Graber, Executive Director of Growth and Development of Rehabilitation/Orthopedic Service Lines at Daviess Community Hospital. “His dedication, innovative thinking, and personalized approach set CORE apart as a leader in rehabilitation therapies.”

Johnson’s educational and professional journey exemplifies dedication to patient care. He holds dual associate degrees in Athletic Training and Education from Vincennes University, a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Indiana State University, and a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Indianapolis.

During his studies, Johnson earned the Student Athletic Trainer of the Year award at both Vincennes University and Indiana State University. He also conducted award-winning research on the effects of animal-assisted therapy for at-risk youth, earning federal funding for the program.

In 2022, Johnson became a Certified Hand Therapist, a distinction held by fewer than 7,000 professionals worldwide. Achieving this certification required thousands of hours of direct care in upper extremity orthopedics and passing a rigorous exam with a 50% pass rate.

At CORE, Johnson combines his unique skill set to offer advanced therapies, including custom splinting, hand therapy, and athletic training. His total-body approach ensures patients receive comprehensive care that addresses not just the injury but the underlying factors affecting recovery.
