Flore Moise, DCH patient navigator and interpreter, presented healthcare information to a Daviess County YMCA class whose students are learning English. She spoke in both English and Haitian Creole to the audience of 25 participants.
Topics covered in the class included:
- When to use the emergency room vs. Quick Care
- The importance of establishing a relationship with a clinic and primary care provider
- How insurance works (deductibles, co-pays, and the benefits of having it vs. paying full price for an injury, test, or surgery)
- Resources who can help with Medicaid or other assistance
- The importance of taking children to a pediatrician for wellness checks and vaccinations.
Flore gave the student various flyers with information about area medical providers, directions and hours for clinics, and contact information for community resources.
The class was very appreciative of Flore’s information!
