Two DCH staff become certified Indiana Navigators

Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) employees Desiree L. Lewis, BSN, RN, CHC, of Daviess County, and Joan L. Cox, BA-HDFS, CCHW, of Knox County, recently became certified Indiana Navigators through the Indiana Department of Insurance.

Indiana Navigators aid individuals in filling out applications for the federal Health Insurance Marketplace on HealthCare.gov or applications for the Indiana Health Coverage Programs, such as Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program, or the Healthy Indiana Plan.

Both Lewis and Cox attended a two-day training in Indianapolis in April, completed self-paced study, and passed the certification exam in mid-May. The training was made possible through a grant from the Indiana Hospital Association and Indiana Primary Health Care Association. The training was provided by ClaimAid.

Lewis is a perinatal navigator and Cox is a certified community health worker at DCH. Lewis and Cox are available in DCH, the community, or the homes of people needing help enrolling in health insurance affordability programs.

To reach Lewis or Cox, call DCH at (812) 254-2760, ext. 1333 or ext. 2210.
