DCH Wound Care Experts Earn Certified Foot Care Specialist Credentials to Improve Patient Care

Proper foot care is essential to overall health, especially for individuals with diabetes, circulation disorders, or chronic wounds. The Daviess Community Hospital Wound Care Center is excited to announce that Valerie Dyer, FNP-C, CWS, OMS, and Tracy Dlamini, MSN, RN, CWON, have achieved their Certified Foot Care Specialist (CFCS) certifications.

This advanced certification, awarded by the American Foot Care Nurses Association, required both professionals to complete a 25-hour online course through Emory University, 30 hours of clinical practice, and a national certification exam, which they both passed on their first attempt.

"I love educating our patients on how to care for their feet daily," said Dyer. "With this certification, I have an expanded knowledge base and more resources to help them avoid complications."

Dlamini emphasized the importance of early foot care intervention. "Many patients don’t realize how critical foot health is until a problem arises. With our expanded expertise, we can now help patients before small issues turn into major concerns."
