Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust to provide free screening and diagnostic breast services to women in need. This funding ensures that eligible, lower-income, medically underserved women age 40 and older in Daviess, Martin, and Pike counties have access to lifesaving mammograms and follow-up care at DCH.
Early detection saves lives. Mammograms are the most effective way to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages, when treatment is most successful. However, financial barriers prevent many women from seeking these critical screenings. Thanks to this grant, DCH can help eliminate that barrier and provide access to essential breast health services.
"This grant allows us to serve more women in our community who may not otherwise have access to mammograms and follow-up diagnostics,” said Sharon Mead, RN, OCN, ONN-CG, Oncology Nurse Navigator at DCH. “Early detection is key, and we want to ensure that every woman has the opportunity to prioritize her breast health.”
If you or someone you know may qualify for free breast cancer screenings and diagnostic services, contact the Radiology Services Department at (812) 254-2856 to learn more about the application process.
