At Daviess Community Hospital, our Food & Nutrition Services team is dedicated to providing fresh, nutritious, and flavorful meals to our patients, visitors, employees, and the community. We strive to make every dining experience safe, enjoyable, and health-focused, ensuring meals are prepared and served according to the highest standards of food safety and nutrition.

Our Team & Commitment

Our team is composed of experienced professionals, including a Nutrition Services Manager, registered dietitians, dietary managers, and skilled food service staff. Every member is trained in food preparation and handling, adhering to strict infection control practices and regulatory guidelines from OSHA, CDC, and the Indiana Department of Health. Our commitment is to uphold the highest standards in food safety and to support our patients' healing journey through well-balanced and nutrient-rich meals.

Patient Meal Services

For inpatients, we offer three daily meal services designed to meet specific dietary needs and preferences:

  • Breakfast: Served at 7:00 a.m.
  • Lunch: Served at 11:30 a.m.
  • Dinner: Served at 5:00 p.m.

Each meal is thoughtfully prepared by our kitchen staff, and registered dietitians are available to consult on dietary needs, providing guidance and education to help patients make informed nutritional choices. We also offer specialized diets, including low-sodium, purée, and heart-healthy options, tailored to individual medical and dietary requirements.

Cafeteria & Guest Services

Our cafeteria welcomes patients' families, hospital guests, and staff members for fresh, nutritious meals in a relaxing atmosphere.

  • Cafeteria Hours: Monday through Friday (closed on weekends)
    • Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
    • Lunch: 11:00 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

Our rotating menu includes a variety of hot and cold meal options, such as salads, sandwiches, daily specials, and homemade soups. We prioritize using wholesome ingredients to create balanced meals that support overall wellness.

Meal Ordering System & Menu Options

Inpatients at Daviess Community Hospital can use our meal-ordering system, allowing them to select meals from daily menus tailored to their dietary needs. Each meal order includes options for a balanced intake of proteins, vegetables, grains, and healthy fats. Our registered dietitians work closely with patients to guide meal selections based on individual health goals and any dietary restrictions prescribed by their healthcare providers.

Daily Menus:

Our daily menus are designed to deliver variety and nutrition, with options like lean proteins, whole grains, fresh vegetables, and delicious desserts. The menus rotate to provide new choices each day, ensuring a wide range of nutrients and flavors.

Educational Resources:

We provide educational resources and guidance on nutrition to support patients and their families in making healthy food choices. Our dietitians offer tips on managing dietary restrictions and building balanced meals for a healthy lifestyle post-discharge.
